Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Oklahoma Hall of Fame Gaylord Pickens Museum
Every fall, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame awards a $6,000 scholarship to a deserving high school senior. The selection is made by the members of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, taking into account the student's academic performance, community engagement, volunteer work, and participation in extracurricular activities.
Eligibility & Requirements for the Scholarship
The scholarship is open to high school seniors currently enrolled in an Oklahoma public, private, charter or homeschool who have committed to further their education at an Oklahoma college or university. The application process requires a letter of recommendation from a teacher, administrator, mentor, coach, or community leader who is not related to the student.
Selection Process & Criteria
The scholarship is merit-based and will be awarded considering the student's academic accomplishments, leadership roles, civic and community participation, knowledge gained from researching a Member of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and their pride in the state of Oklahoma. All activities related to these criteria from the time the student started school (kindergarten) will be taken into account. The quality of the application (adherence to instructions, spelling, grammar, etc.) will also be evaluated.
A committee of Oklahoma Hall of Fame Members will review the applications. One student will be chosen each year as the scholarship recipient. The winner will be honored at the annual Oklahoma Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
