Whitinger Scholars Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Ball State University
The Honors College at Ball State University proudly presents the Whitinger Scholarship, its most distinguished award. This scholarship, which supplements the Presidential Scholarship of Ball State, offers full tuition, mandatory fees, and on-campus accommodation and meals for eight incoming Honors College students with extraordinary potential each year. The award is a tribute to Dr. Ralph J. Whitinger, a 1929 alumnus who dedicated many years as the inaugural president of the Ball State University Foundation.
Value of the Award
The Whitinger Scholarship provides comprehensive coverage for full tuition (whether in-state or out-of-state), obligatory fees (those applicable to all students), and on-campus housing and meals (a standard double room in the DeHority Complex with 14 meals per week) for eight terms of undergraduate study. If students are recipients of another merit-based scholarship from Ball State (such as the Presidential Scholarship or Ball State Scholars Award), that award will be applied first to tuition and fees. The Whitinger Scholarship will then cover any remaining tuition and fee costs, as well as on-campus housing and meals.
