The ConnectHER Film Festival is a global competition for young filmmakers, inviting short films that shed light on issues affecting women and girls. Before you start creating your film for submission, we urge you to thoroughly read the following submission guidelines and frequently asked questions. We eagerly await your entries and wish you the best of luck!

  1. The central theme of the films should be one of our specified topic areas.
  2. We are open to all forms and styles of filmmaking, be it animation or live-action, documentary or narrative.
  3. The age bracket for filmmakers is 13 to 25 years at the time of submission. This implies that all aspects of the film, including scripting, storyboarding, directing, cinematography, editing, etc., should be handled by individuals within this age range. However, there are no age restrictions for actors.
  4. The films should be original creations that have not been showcased at other major film festivals.
  5. The films should have been completed post January 1, 2025.
  6. The duration of the films should be between 3 to 6 minutes.
  7. We accept film files in .mov and .mp4 formats. We highly recommend HD resolution and superior sound quality. Digital submissions via Google Drive are preferred, but Dropbox is also acceptable.
  8. Participants must follow a specific file naming format when submitting their materials:
  9. For Portrait/Headshot File: It should be named as per the participant's first and last name, in the format: FirstName_LastName (e.g. Jane_Doe.jpg).
  10. For Film File: It should be named as per the film title followed by the names of all filmmakers, in the format: Title_by_FilmmakersNames_Country (e.g., Sunrise_by_JaneDoe_JohnSmith_AmyLee_UnitedKingdom.mp4).
  11. Submissions that do not adhere to this naming protocol may be disqualified or returned for rectification.
  12. We encourage you to highlight local/national/regional organizations working towards resolving the issue or problem addressed in your film. Please include a graphic featuring two such organization names & logos at the end of your film.
  13. All films must include English subtitles.
  14. Submissions must be made by the deadline to be considered. We will not accept late entries.
  15. If your film includes any graphic content, a warning should be placed at the start of the film. ConnectHER reserves the right to accept films, especially in cases where film submissions contain nudity, profanity, violence, or sexually explicit content.
  16. We will not accept PowerPoints. Films should possess some cinematic value.
