Jefferson Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Jefferson Scholars Foundation
Developing leaders for a self-governing people is at the heart of what we do. Since 1980, the Jefferson Scholarship Program has been cultivating outstanding undergraduate students, providing them with the financial support to pursue their passions and develop their talents for the good of the University and beyond.
The mission of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation is to benefit the University of Virginia by identifying, attracting, and nurturing individuals of extraordinary intellectual range and depth who possess the highest concomitant qualities of leadership, scholarship, and citizenship.
Students who wish to be considered for a Jefferson Scholarship nomination but do not attend a nominating school must apply using the Early Action admission process to the University of Virginia. Due to the volume of students in the Admissions At-Large competition, only those students receiving a nomination will be notified of their status.

$333,000 for non-Virginian students
$177,000 for Virginian students
The stipend in 2022–2023 will exceed:
