AGCVA Valley District Zachary Fletchall Memorial Construction Scholarships

Introduction
The AGCVA Valley District offers the Zachary Fletchall Memorial Construction Scholarships in honor of Zachary Fletchall of Harman Construction, who served as president of the Valley District at the time of his passing. These awards, underwritten by the AGCVA Valley District, support students and individuals pursuing a career change into the construction field. Each scholarship is $1,500.
Who should apply
Applicants are encouraged from residents of the Valley District counties — Augusta, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren — and from others aiming to enter the construction industry. The following qualifications and submission requirements define the ideal candidates.
Eligibility
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be a full-time high school student, or a full- or part-time student at a post-secondary institution.
- Preference will be given to those who live in one of the AGCVA Valley District counties listed above.
- Must be applying to or currently enrolled in an accredited institution (including technical/training centers, community colleges, or four-year colleges/universities).
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Previous applicants and prior scholarship recipients are eligible to apply again.
- The completed application and all supporting materials must be postmarked no later than February 28, 2025.
Required application materials (must be postmarked by February 28, 2025)
- Completed application form.
- Official high school transcript, submitted in an appropriately sealed envelope and bearing the signature of the school counselor.
- Official transcripts for any post–high school coursework.
- One reference letter from a member of the applicant’s academic community; the letter should be provided to the applicant in a sealed envelope.
Selection process
Applications will be evaluated by the AGCVA Valley District Executive Committee. Decisions will consider academic achievement, extracurricular and leadership activities, community service, and the applicant’s stated plans for a future in the construction industry. The Executive Committee reserves the right to withhold awards if no applicants meet the committee’s standards.
