Hawaii Association of the Blind College Scholarships

Scholarship Sponsored by Hawaii Association of the Blind

Value: $500
Awards Available: 2
Deadline : Nov 15, 2025

The Hawaii Association of the Blind (HAB) is committed to aiding blind and visually impaired students in their pursuit of higher education by offering scholarship grants. If you are aware of any student who could benefit from financial aid for college, they can apply for the HAB scholarship by completing the application form provided below.

HAB is extending scholarships to legally blind students who are residents of Hawaii and are enrolled in any accredited college or university, irrespective of its location. The deadlines for submitting applications for the Fall and Spring semesters are May 15th and November 15th, respectively.

The scholarship committee has the discretion to offer scholarships either annually or semi-annually. The committee has the authority to accept or reject scholarship applications, as well as to decide the amount and duration of the scholarship. Recipients of the scholarship must reapply to be considered for future scholarships. Those who have been denied a scholarship are still eligible to reapply at a later date. Scholarships will not exceed a one-year duration and are anticipated to be no less than $500 per semester.

Application Guidelines

  1. Candidates must submit a letter (not exceeding two pages) outlining their educational objectives and providing pertinent information to the Scholarship Committee.
  2. Candidates must furnish a copy of their official transcripts to the Scholarship Committee. If the candidate is yet to attend college or is in their first semester, official high school transcripts are mandatory.
  3. Candidates must provide at least two reference letters, with one of them being from a professor or teacher.
  4. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to request additional information from the candidate.
  5. Providing false information will lead to the rejection of the application and/or termination of the scholarship, with the Scholarship Committee potentially taking legal action to recover any funds previously awarded.
  6. Any omission of information by the candidate that is pertinent to the scholarship requirements will be deemed as false representation, leading to termination and potential legal action.
  7. Submit the completed form to the Scholarship Committee.
