Lawyer Chris Jones has a deep-seated commitment to aiding the youth of South Carolina, particularly those who have navigated the foster care system. He firmly believes in the importance of bolstering the younger generations, especially those who are disadvantaged.
Despite the difficulties inherent in the foster care system, it can also provide invaluable life lessons. The Fostering Education Scholarship is designed to assist any student who has been part of the foster care system and is driven to chase their aspirations. This scholarship is available to students seeking higher education at a community college, vocational school, or university.
Applicants are encouraged to recount their personal journeys, the obstacles they've surmounted, the unique bonds they've formed, and how their upbringing has molded them into the individuals they are today.
This scholarship offers a $2,500 award. The application deadline is October 31, 2025. Please read on for further details.
Qualification Criteria
- The scholarship is accessible to any current high school senior, vocational student, college student, or graduate student. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States, living in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2025, or already be enrolled.
- Applicants for this scholarship should maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good academic standing overall.
Submission Requirements
- Applicants must respond to the following essay prompt:
- How has your experience in foster care influenced your development into the person you are today? What guidance would you offer to your younger self?
- Applicants must provide a resumé detailing their professional and academic history.
- Applicants must submit a transcript from their current institution. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school and the most recent official transcript from their previous school. High school students must also provide proof of acceptance to their college or university.
Lawyer Chris Jones will select the recipient of the Fostering Education Scholarship in the month following the scholarship deadline.
Deadline and Application Instructions:
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must submit their complete application (including the essay, resumé, and transcript) by October 31, 2025. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
